Dr. Wilhoite is a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., who earned his medical doctorate from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis in 1986. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, serving as chief resident at Quillen-Dishner College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology in 1991.
He lives in West Knoxville with his wife Jean Wilhoite, who is an advanced practice nurse. The couple have two children, daughter Hannah, who is registered nurse, and son David, a college student. Dr. Wilhoite’s hobbies include hiking and fishing, as well as photography, cooking and travel.
