Dr. Narayani grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where he completed undergraduate degrees in chemistry and computer science. He remained at Vanderbilt after his admission to the School of Medicine to attend medical school and then began active-duty military service in the U.S. Air Force to receive his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship training in San Antonio, Texas. After completion of training, he served as an academic gastroenterologist at David Grant USAF Medical Center in California and then joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 2005.

His 10-year military career included an overseas deployment in 2003 as a critical care aeromedical physician during Operation Enduring Freedom, and was further highlighted by earning a Meritorious Service Medal in 2005.

Dr. Narayani is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Aside from general gastroenterology, his professional interests include video capsule endoscopy of the small bowel and advanced endoscopic treatment of Barrett’s esophagus.  He has participated in clinical research on both subjects. Since joining GIA, he has championed the integration and optimization of GIA’s electronic health record system for nearly 20 years. He has spoken at national meetings on the subject of electronic medical record integration and has published a review on this important subject.

Dr. Narayani’s personal interests include participating in various sports, traveling and computer programming.
